CNC Coolant Systems & Basics – Flood Coolant, Dry, MQL & More!

Having had a lot of inbound questions about the Trico MD-1200 I use on my Tormach PCNC 1100 for CNC machining, here’s a short video

– very much from a layman’s perspective – about the numerous types of CNC coolant systems and the role coolant plays in milling and machining. Coolant is an incredibly complex topic that is critical for folks running the latest and greatest to maximize material removal rates and prolong tool life. That’s not what this video is about! This video is for folks – like me – who want to understand what our options are and what’s “out there”. Things like MQL, cold air blasts, TSC don’t always get “thrown around” at the “hobby” level but that doesn’t mean it’s not helpful (or at least fun!) to know what they are! I know a lot of the folks here on YouTube have had great successes with specific flood coolant recipes – look for those in the comments below.
