The Lost 107: Machining & Grinding a Gauge Block!

I lost my 0.107 gage block! Wanting to keep a “full set”, it was a decision of buying a replacement or making a new one.

DIY is the answer! Nothing too hard here: use the Tormach PCNC to machine a piece of 4140 then surface grind to size! We’re using a surface gauge and Starrett dial indicator to nail down a perfectly flat, parallel and accurate piece!

Materials:

Surface Gauge

Starrett Dial Indicator

Granite Plate

Gauge Blocks Set
