What’s New on NYC CNC – August 2018

Pro Content:

  • What new machine should we buy?
  • We implemented a new Pro system, so all users have access to Pro pages regardless of membership. This allows us to show a preview of the video or download to non-Pro members while those with a membership get the same content they normally would! This helps with finding our pages through search engines and allows our users a better idea of what our Pro membership offers before they purchase.

What’s New on NYCCNC – March 27, 2018

Hi Folks!  Here’s what we have been up to this past month:

  1. Alex, our newest intern, has been helping bring the majority of the NYCCNC YouTube videos over to NYCCNC.  This improves the searchability of NYCCNC content and allows you to use the NYCCNC.com Library search and tag / filter system!  If you come across older content that has any mistakes, needs support material (e.g. CAD / CAM files), etc – let us know!
  2. John updated the Steel Tormach Tool Library.  Changes include revised Speeds & Feeds for all tools, addition of smaller solid carbide end mills, better Tool Reference Info (vendor, URL, etc) and, finally, adding some new tools like the Dijet High Feed Mill that you’ll see an an upcoming Wednesday Widget.
  3. We added this news sections!  It’s a work in progress; we need a better way to communicate with YOU – letting you know about updates, changes to articles, etc.  We’re also brainstorming on ways to create versioning or documenting changes to the Fusion 360 Tool Libraries and CAM templates for the NYCCNC Pro Members.
  4. Sneak Peek:  Ed, Alex, Jared and John are about to start a new Speeds & Feeds Video Library showing video examples of specific tools, materials, holders and more.  These will tie into the NYC CNC Tool Libraries and serve as a great reference for what a cut should sound like and what the chips should look like.

What’s New on NYCCNC – February 21, 2018

Hi Folks!  We spent most of last year (2017) building out the NYCCNC site infrastructure.  We wanted a website that offered a reliable, well organized, and searchable database for all-things CNC, manufacturing, machining and entrepreneurship.  Building out websites like this is quite challenging, especially as the scope changes.  Predicting the feeling, layout and organization is difficult!  For those who were on NYCCNC.com back in the fall of 2017 when it first launched, you’ve no doubt seen significant changes compared to the site today!

In 2018, we’re focusing on:

  1. Final Site structure improvements.  Things like this news section so it’s easier to see what’s new and updated on the site!  Things like improvements to the Forum, clarifying what Pro membership includes and finalizing the back-end templates for how each page looks
  2. Content!  From speeds & feeds to instructional videos to pulling in some of the most popular past NYCCNC YouTube videos, we want this site to be a reliable, fast, informative way for YOU to learn and leverage for Fusion 360 tutorials, CNC Machining, Speeds & Feeds and Business & Manufacturing Entrepreneurship.  We have a number of videos either part-way done or soon to be filmed on things like accounting, how to get started, material-specific Feeds & Speeds, metrology basics and more!
